Power, sex, and parenthood

Today I read the conclusion of Marriage and Morals and began Russell’s “In Praise of idleness” to see if I want to continue to use his essays as inspiration for photography. I’m not sure if I will use him again for a whole month but for today the following paragraph inspired me.

I imagine the above piece about 6 ft. tall. The child’s photo, the paper-clip(thank-you Ryan), the condom and the dollar all over 6 feet in size. I should one day like to make this piece.

Marriage and Morals, page 190

“The impulses that lead to the complex desires of adult life can be arranged under a few simple heads. Power, sex, and parenthood appear to me to be the source of most the things that human beings do, apart from what is necessary for self-preservation.”
